When I first reported back in May, 2021 that a Canon EOS R5 C was coming, I was also told about new versions of the C300, C500, and C700 Cinema EOS cameras. The joys of the pandemic hit and it seemed everything for the Cinema EOS lineup was stuck.

This is what I reported on back in April of 2021.

Canon RF Mount Cinema Prime Lenses

  • RF 18mm T/1.5
  • RF 24mm T/1.3
  • RF 35mm T/1.3
  • RF 50mm T/1.3
  • RF 85mm T/1.3
  • RF 100mm T/1.5
  • RF 135mm T/1.5

There will also be two new Cinema compact zoom lenses for full-frame, as well as two larger new cinema zoom lenses.

I was told as recently as last week that we’d be seeing new “modules” for both the Cinema EOS C300 Mark III and Cinema EOS C500 Mark II announced this year.

The NAB Show 2022 is still scheduled for April, but I’m not sure if Canon is going to follow through with their attendance at the show if things go sideways again with the pandemic.

I’m still confident in a lot of this information will be correct, but plans may have changed due to delays from the semiconductor shortage globally.

I hope to have some clarity on the lineup in the near future. For now, I think Cinema EOS gets some new gear, and then we’ll see a lot of EOS R series gear announced in the 2nd half of 2022.
